Swiss Chard – A Red Variety From “Bright Lights” Packet

One of the produce items we’ll be featuring at the market on Saturday is Swiss Chard, an extremely versatile vegetable that can be used in every course of the meal from salads and appetizers to desserts.  The dessert may sound like a stretch, but it is very popular in the south of France and recipes can easily be found on the internet or in cook books.  It’s a great vegetable to grow as you can harvest the leaves at any time once the plant is established and new ones will grow to replace them, giving you fresh greens all season long.
