Leeks, Eggplant, and Tomatoes oh my!

Last week we brought some lovely leeks to market. These are some of the 900 we transplanted earlier this Spring. We’ll have a few more this weekend, but a good portion of them will hang out in the garden until a little later in the summer.

Matt and I harvested a couple surprises out of the garden this week. First, a few beautiful eggplant…Matt LOVES eggplant.

Various Eggplant

And then…….the first tomatoes of the season. A handful of Smarty cherry tomatoes. It’s important to note that the first tomatoes of 2009 weren’t harvested until September! We are barely into August and already have visible, ripe, yummy tomatoes. More are sure to come.
