B and G Produce is offering CSA shares for 2016! We are excited to dedicate more time and energy into B and G Produce this year.

Each weekly basket will include a variety of produce and some recipes. There will be 10 weeks of deliveries and we’re targeting a July start. So, this will be in the height of summer and harvest.

What is a CSA? Groups of consumers and farmers create partnerships to create mutually beneficial and ecologically sound local food systems. Consumers benefit by receiving regular deliveries of fresh, seasonal produce grown locally by someone they know. Growers benefit by receiving income in the off season to help with the costs of seeds, equipment, and labor.

With a B and G CSA share you’ll, again, experience seasonality at its best. Unlike supermarket produce, often chosen for its ability to withstand transport and uniformity, the varieties we grow are chosen for flavor. As the season moves along you’ll get to try unique and heirloom types of lettuces, beans, beets, carrots, and summer squash. We’re also planting many types of tomatoes and peppers, some familiar and some unusual but all very delicious. Late summer and into fall you’ll have eggplant, cabbages, winter squashes, pumpkins, greens, and potatoes. We’re hoping to include some grapes and apples this year as well.

Pick up will be every Tuesday from 5:00pm to 6:00pm at a location to be determined in the next couple months. If you are unable to pick up your share, please arrange for someone to pick it up for you. Any shares not picked up will be donated or composted.

We are limiting our CSA to 12 participants this year, so reserve yours as soon as possible. Spring can’t come soon enough!
